Staff spotlight: Elena Alvaro, Business Development Manager–South Australia

Can you tell us about yourself and your background?

I’ve always been a people‑person, and throughout my career I’ve naturally gravitated toward roles that centre on building strong, lasting relationships — it’s definitely my superpower. My experience spans hospitality, private health, real estate and financial services, giving me a broad understanding of how different industries operate and what clients value.

In 2009, I entered the finance industry as a finance broker. It was a challenging time starting whilst the GFC hit, but it taught me the importance of maintaining a positive mindset, supporting clients through uncertainty and delivering outcomes with confidence and stability.

Since then, I’ve worked across aggregation services and the banking sector, which has helped me understand the industry from multiple perspectives and strengthened my ability to meet client needs.

I’m driven by problem‑solving and finding the right solutions for clients. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for being trustworthy, knowledgeable and protecting and fostering relationships — qualities I’m proud to bring to my work every day.

How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?

I was approached to join the newly established national business development team in South Australia, supporting the broker network. The private lending space has always interested me, especially given the growing demand for commercial real estate development in today’s market. It felt like the right time to expand my skill set, so I jumped at the chance to be part of something new and impactful.

What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?

No two days are the same, which is something I really enjoy. My time is spent speaking with brokers and collaborating with our origination team, who are consistently focused on delivering a seamless experience for clients. It’s a team I genuinely love working with.

I also like to vary how I connect with people — whether it’s a virtual meeting or catching up over coffee, I am flexible to whatever helps the conversation flow. I’m a big fan of the outdoors, so I also enjoy bringing a creative touch to networking events. Keep an eye out for some unique events we’re planning for 2026.

What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?

Whilst I’ve only been in this role for three months, the culture across the Pallas Capital team has stood out from day one. The support, collaboration and mutual respect across both state and national teams is genuinely inspiring. A strong culture makes all the difference, and I feel fortunate to be part of it.

What are some of your proudest achievements or milestones during your time at Pallas Capital?

It’s still early days, but reconnecting with brokers I’ve worked with throughout my career has been incredibly rewarding. Many have reached out to continue working together in this new capacity, which means a lot to me. It reinforces that the relationships I’ve built over the years are strong — and that I must be doing something right.

Looking ahead, what are your professional goals and aspirations within Pallas Capital? How do you see yourself contributing to the company’s future success?

I have a tapestry of industry experience — including being a small business owner — which has allowed me to build strong relationships across the community. I am passionate about bringing people together and creating networks that support growth, and I see that continuing to be a big part of how I contribute to Pallas Capital’s success.

Our South Australian team is already expanding, and I’d love to play a role in supporting that growth as market needs evolve. Ultimately, my goal is to see Pallas Capital become increasingly visible across SA, supporting commercial development and helping clients bring their projects to life. Seeing that progress — and knowing I’ve played a part in it — will always be a proud moment.
