On Wednesday 19 June, Pallas Capital hosted its inaugural Women in Wealth event, bringing together a dynamic group of women for an intimate lunch at the beautiful Green House in Brisbane, for a closer look at the evolving landscape of female investors in Australia and offering valuable insights into the full suite of investment opportunities available to them.
The event featured notable speakers, including the impressive Cathie Reid AM, Co-founder of Epic Pharmacy Group and Icon Group, and Maria Lykouras, Chief Executive Officer of JBWere. Both speakers shared their experiences and insights on personal wealth, financial influence and the importance of feeling knowledgeable and empowered when it comes to investing.
Maria Lykouras emphasised the significance of financial freedom, stating, “When you have financial freedom, you have choices.” She also addressed a common misconception about female investors, noting, “There has been a historical view that women are more conservative than men, but the data, particularly in the high-net-worth space, doesn’t tell us that… one quarter of female investors have alternative investments within their portfolios.”
Bianca Wise, Pallas Capital Partner – Distribution, also addressed attendees discussing the alignment of Commercial Real Estate debt with women’s investment objectives and providing them with diverse perspectives on investment strategies. A valuable Q&A session allowed for meaningful conversations among the guests, fostering an environment of learning and connection.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees describing the event as, “Truly inspiring, with incredible speakers, valuable insights and personal stories.” Another guest remarked, “It was wonderful to connect with other women who are really interested in educating themselves.”
