Pallas Cup 2024

On Friday 22nd of March, the team at Pallas Capital set sail once again, hosting over 90 of our valued clients for an exclusive afternoon on Sydney Harbour.

Back for its third year, the Pallas Capital TP52 Gold Cup was a 3 nautical mile race featuring nine of Sydney’s finest TP52 high performance yachts – Quest, Smuggler, Highly Sprung, Matador, First Light, Koa, Frantic, Hooligan and Denali.

Following a welcome session at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia, Darling Point, guests were divided into nine teams and given a tour of their boat and crew.

The course was set by the CYCA race official, and light north-easterly winds on the day remained at a steady 6-7 knots offering pleasant sailing conditions for the teams. Whilst the afternoon’s low winds meant for a less exhilarating competition, it was a race to the finish line for two of the boats, Matador and Koa, with Matador taking the win by just under a two minutes.

Highly Sprung claimed third place, followed by Denali, Quest, Smuggler, Hooligan, Frantic and First Light.

The race was followed by a champagne celebration and presentation of the winning crew back at the Club by Pallas Capital Executive Director, Craig Bannister and President of the TP52 Class Association and Captain of Quest, Craig Neil.

David Doherty of Matador, Nathan Rossini of Koa, and Irina Al Muderis of Highly Sprung were all awarded with 1st, 2nd and 3rd trophies, a bottle of French champagne and $200 Zhik gift voucher, and the Pallas Cup was duly filled with French Champagne for a celebratory spray by Craig Bannister.

The day was a huge success, we thank our long-term clients and close friends and we look forward to hosting you all again next year.
