Staff spotlight: Andrew Howard, Director – Origination

Can you tell us about yourself and your background?

I was born and raised in Melbourne — from school through to university, and now working life. While there wasn’t a single defining moment that set my path, I’ve been fortunate to build a career across corporate treasury and financial markets. This included a stint in Asia before making the well‑trodden move from a major bank to the non‑bank sector.

How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?

After 16 years at ANZ and CBA, I was ready for a change. While there were many well‑established property funds in the market, I was looking for a business with strong growth potential, one where I could contribute to that journey. After meeting with the Pallas Capital leadership team, I was drawn to the firm’s position in the market and its ambition, and I decided to come on board.

What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?

My days are varied, which is something I enjoy. They can include site or client visits across Melbourne and regional Victoria, credit workshops, investor meetings, broker and client events, or reviewing new deal information. This diversity of work reflects the pace and breadth of Pallas Capital.

What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?

Undoubtedly,  the biggest highlight has been seeing the business more than double in size over the past three years. Having previously worked in larger, slower‑paced organisations, it has been energising to be part of a company with strong growth aspirations and the environment to support them.

While growth naturally brings more structure and process, being part of that evolution — and seeing the results — has been particularly rewarding.

What are some of your proudest achievements or milestones during your time at Pallas Capital?

When I joined, Pallas Capital’s presence in Victoria was still developing. Since then, our profile has grown significantly. This has been driven by the team’s ongoing efforts to expand our network, execute consistently and grow our loan book.

I’m proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with brokers and clients across Victoria, and of the role our team has played in strengthening Pallas Capital’s position in the market.

Looking ahead, what are your professional goals and aspirations within Pallas Capital? How do you see yourself contributing to the company’s future success?

Looking ahead, I see continued growth in the Victorian market as new opportunities emerge for local and interstate developers and investors. This will create scope for Pallas Capital to support clients as they progress their projects and expand their portfolios.

For me, the focus is on continuing to expand this presence by strengthening our team and building on the momentum we’ve already created. Supporting our clients through the next phase of the cycle will be an important part of that.
