Staff Spotlight – Charlie Brooks

Can you tell us about yourself and your background?

I finished studying at the University of Technology, Sydney in 2021, completing a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Finance and Economics. I actually joined Pallas part-time during my final semester. On completing my degree, I was fortunate to be offered a full-time position.

Aside from study and work, I’ve been heavily involved in several sports. In my mid-teens, I decided to narrow my focus to one sport: the ironman side of surf lifesaving.

I’m currently training 10-15 times a week and have recently qualified for the Professional Nutri-Grain Ironman Series.

How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?

I was lucky enough to fluke an interview through a family friend, Mandy Herring, who was already working with the Pallas Group. Mandy’s husband, Trent, is my ironman coach.

Pallas Capital is my first full-time role in the corporate world and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to start my career.

What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?

I get to do a lot of different things, but my responsibilities typically revolve around Business Development and Client Services.

On any given day I might be meeting with financial advisors and potential clients, managing queries and investor on-boarding, capturing and tracking sales analytics, CRM Database maintenance, processing applications and redemptions, reviewing interest payment calculations, attending Industry conferences and events, as well as learning as much as I can from our Executive Directors and Partners of Distribution.

What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?

I love being able to learn from such an experienced team. Every day I have the opportunity to work with colleagues who, in some cases, have decades of experience in our industry and the corporate world.

I feel very fortunate to have the chance to be mentored by so many great people.

What are your personal goals for 2022 outside of Pallas Capital?

Maintaining a good balance of work, training and social life is always important. I try hard to maintain regular contact with friends outside of work. My number one goal for 2022 was to qualify for the Professional Nutri-Grain Ironman Series and I’ve been lucky enough to do that. I’m currently working towards my goals for that series and also the National Championships early in 2023.
