Staff spotlight – Mickey Lakic

Can you tell us about yourself and your background?

I’m a Business Analyst, operating within the Technology and Operations division in the Sydney office. In my role, I’m responsible for the evaluation and continuous improvement of Pallas Capitals systems and processes to improve productivity, reduce errors, improve transparency between teams, and enhance reporting and decision-making capabilities.

I’ve been with the company since January 2023, and time has flown by amidst the rapid growth and continuous learning opportunities.

Prior to joining Pallas, I spent 3 years working at Macquarie Group as a Business Analyst for their asset management and technology divisions. Having gained a wealth of knowledge in the public markets space, I wanted to broaden my knowledge of private financial markets – and this is what attracted me to Pallas Capital.

How did you come to be part of the Pallas Capital team?

Joining the Pallas Capital team was a result of aligning my technology skills with a role that involved business-facing activities. Their multi-year technology uplift project caught my interest, and after meeting with my hiring manager and Chief of Operations, I knew it was an offer I couldn’t resist!

What does a typical workday look like for you at Pallas Capital?

My typical day revolves around developing a new greenfield technology to streamline various business operations. I’m involved in projects related to information systems management, cybersecurity, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

What has been your highlight at Pallas Capital so far?

My highlight has been working with the amazing people here at Pallas! The culture is great and very family-oriented. They are easy to work with and everyone gets along well with each other.

What are some of your proudest achievements or milestones during your time at Pallas Capital?

The milestone I’m most proud of is having launched the first module of our new technology to the business. It was hard work to get there but we pulled it off! I’m also proud of leading a project that ensured Pallas met its regulatory and tax obligations. Despite this not being my primary skill set, and the project starting as a side endeavor, it became a significant achievement of mine.

Looking ahead, what are your professional goals and aspirations within Pallas Capital? How do you see yourself contributing to the company’s future success?

I want to always keep learning and growing both professionally and personally. From a professional perspective, my main aspirations are to ensure we go live and successfully adopt these new technologies that we are building. Technology plays a crucial role in any business, so my ultimate goal is to ensure I can add value by optimising business processes using technology!
