Women in Wealth Events: Melbourne and Sydney

Following the success of our inaugural Women in Wealth event in Brisbane earlier this year, Pallas Capital was thrilled to bring this empowering initiative to Melbourne and Sydney last week, hosting a network of impressive women for an insightful afternoon of learning, connection, and opportunity.

In Sydney, the event was held at Chiswick in Woollahra, featuring a runway show by Sarah Lloyd, where Pensiri Scott won a $500 voucher and an exclusive in-studio styling session. Melbourne’s gathering at Entrecôte in Prahran drew an equally impressive group of women, showcasing the event’s growing momentum.

Both events featured notable speakers, including Cathie Reid AM, Co-founder of Epic Pharmacy Group and Icon Group, and Maria Lykouras, CEO of JBWere, who shared their expertise and personal experiences in navigating the investment landscape. Bianca Wise, Partner – Distribution at Pallas Capital, highlighted the potential of Commercial Real Estate Debt as a compelling and accessible investment opportunity for women looking to diversify their portfolios.

Connecting Women with Opportunities
The Women in Wealth series offers a platform to connect women with investment opportunities that align with their goals, providing a space to exchange meaningful insights and spark important conversations. These events reflect Pallas Capital’s commitment to empowering women to take control of their financial journeys, dispelling myths around investing, and making wealth management more accessible.

Dispelling the Myths Around Investing

A key topic of discussion was challenging the common myth that women are inherently more conservative investors than men. Research shows that this isn’t necessarily the case—women are simply more likely to favor traditional investments, such as shares, property, and cash, because these are the options they are most familiar with.

This highlights the need for greater access to information about alternative investments, as well as more tailored advice. The investment industry remains predominantly male, which can create barriers for women seeking guidance. However, women are open to exploring these opportunities when provided with clear, trustworthy resources and advisors who understand their unique family dynamics, needs, and goals.

By fostering these relationships and offering better access to diverse investment opportunities, women can diversify their portfolios and unlock greater growth potential.

Building Investment Confidence

As highlighted by Maria Lykouras, the number of female millionaires in Australia continues to rise. Women are set to inherit an extraordinary $3.2 trillion in the largest wealth transfer Australia has ever seen. This growth is driven by factors such as inheritances, divorces, and the “oldest daughter effect,” with women increasingly assuming greater financial responsibility.

However, financial literacy alone does not guarantee investment knowledge. Building investment confidence requires not only understanding financial principles but also gaining access to the right tools and resources to navigate the investment landscape with certainty. The event underscored the importance of education and support in helping women explore more sophisticated investment strategies, such as Commercial Real Estate Debt, and unlock the potential for long-term wealth creation.

We are committed to continuing our support for women on their investment journeys, offering more opportunities for education, connection, and growth.
